Overview
Postdoctoral Scholar - Feric Lab
The Laboratory of Marina Feric in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (BMB) and Center for Eukaryotic Gene Regulation (CEGR) at the Pennsylvania State University (PSU, University Park) is offering several positions for Postdoctoral Fellows to interrogate the structure and function of biomolecular condensates, particularly pertaining to mitochondria. The Feric lab takes an interdisciplinary approach to uncover the driving forces underlying the organization of the cell, in the context of human health and age-related diseases, through the lens of biomolecular phase transitions.
Work ranges from studying the phase behavior of in vitro and in vivo biomolecular condensates to the cellular mechanisms that regulate them. We will foster a collaborative, inclusive work environment and build a diverse team of biologists, chemists, physicists, and engineers.
Ideal candidates will have a PhD in Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biophysics, Chemical and Biological Engineering or a related discipline. Prior experience with at least one area is required: protein and nucleic acid purification, mammalian cell culture, mitochondrial biology, advanced genetic engineering, next-generation sequencing & analysis, advanced light microscopy & image analysis, or biophysical modelling.
Additional InformationInterested candidates should submit
1) a cover letter describing research experience, interests, and goals,
2) a curriculum vitae (CV) containing a publication list, and
3) contact information for three references. Review of applications begins immediately and continues until positions are filled for start dates after Jan. 1st, 2023.
This is a term appointment funded for one year from date of hire.
