Electoral Reform Research Assistant Intern

The Department of Statistics seeks to hire graduate or undergraduate student(s) as a part-time hourly Research Assistant during Fall 2026/Spring 2027. The successful candidates will provide assistance with statistical research mainly focused on evaluating possible reforms to U.S. electoral systems, such as proportional representation and single transferable vote. Applicants should have familiarity with U.S. politics and an interest in learning how to use map-based redistricting tools.

Experience with the R programming language is a plus.

Up to 60 total hours of work are anticipated, with a pay rate of $20 per hour. Applications will be received and reviewed on a rolling basis, with work to begin immediately after hiring.

Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies.
