Responsibilities
Responsible for supervising, instructing, and coaching all participants of the University Park Makos Swim Team.
- Provide exceptional customer service to all external and internal customers
- Respond to and resolve customer issues and requests
- Coaches a wide variety of skill levels
- Responsible for the development of workouts and preparation for swim meets
- Responsible for the supervision and coaching of swim team
- Responsible for the supervision and leadership of any assistant swim team coaches or instructors
- Responsible for organization of team and designated swimmers during weekly swim meets
- Assist with the set up and take down for all hosted home swim meets
- Follow established City of University Park policies and procedures
- Attend all required scheduled meetings and trainings
- Maintain regular and punctual on-site attendance
- Attend mandatory drug screening
- Attend mandatory Human Resources orientation if hired as a new employee
- Attend all paid pre-season Swim Team coaches’ meetings
- Attend all mandatory paid in-service trainings as scheduled
- Be at work on time for every scheduled shift/practice and/or swim meet
- Report to work and remain free from being under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol
- Be available to work weekdays, weekends and holidays during the swim team season
- Be willing to work together for the better of the team
- Maintain a clean work environment in and around the facility
- Be available for the swim team season mid-May – Mid-July, including post season competitive swimming clinics and programs.
- This includes mandatory attendance at all swim team practices and swim meets in May and June
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Minimum 2 years of coaching and/or competitive swimming experience
- Preference American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
- American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED Certification
Work is performed predominately outdoors and involves direct contact with the general public. The work schedule of a Swim Coach will include morning swim team practice/clinic shifts Monday through Friday and Monday afternoon swim meet shifts.

In accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act, this position is not eligible for overtime for hours work over 40 in a designated work week.
ScheduleThe City of University Park is currently accepting applications for Aquatic Positions. All positions require the ability to work flexible schedules up to 40 hours per week, with a preferred start date of April 27, 2026, and the availability to work Sunday through Saturday, 6:30 a.m. through 8:30 pm., including holidays and special events.
Must pass a criminal background check (if 18 years old or older) and drug test.
