Assistant Coach for Men's Tennis
Position SpecificsPenn State Intercollegiate Athletics, a Division I and Big Ten Conference Institution, is seeking an Assistant Coach for the Men's Tennis program.
The Assistant Coach will assist the Head Coach with the management of the athletic program, the recruitment process, mentoring student‑athletes, scouting, film exchange, practice planning, team travel, equipment purchasing, sport camps, visiting team requests, statistical information, student manager supervision, community service, booster club representation, fundraising, media requests, and compliance with all University, conference and NCAA rules. The role promotes the core values and strategic goals of intercollegiate athletics.
- Coordinate the recruitment and retention of prospective student athletes, including prospect evaluation, selection, off‑campus and on‑campus visits, and communications.
- Assist with the mentoring of student athletes to foster athletic, academic, emotional, and social growth; enforce rules of conduct and team policies.
- Gather, prepare, and present scouting materials.
- Assist with the organization and planning for home events, practice plans, skill development, and game‑day strategy.
- Assist with team travel organization, purchasing, inventory, care, and storage of equipment.
- Assist with planning, organization, execution, and staffing of sport camps.
- Coordinate visiting team requests (practice, hotel, meals, etc.).
- Assist with former athlete and alumni relations.
- Assist with compilation and maintenance of statistical information.
- May independently supervise student managers, volunteer coaches, undergraduate coaches, and other ancillary personnel.
- Represent the Head Coach at intercollegiate athletics, alumni, and University events when required.
- Assist with oversight and management of booster clubs and fundraising efforts.
- Assist with media request management.
- Adhere to University, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree or higher.

This position requires a PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. A credit history check and a motor vehicle records check (valid driver’s license required) are also required.
