Overview
Job Description - ACADEMIC ADVISOR III (T231960). The School of Health Professions is seeking an Academic Advisor III to support the program of Biomedical Sciences. The advisor will select academic advising practices that support student success, create and maintain a safe, equitable and inclusive environment, and develop an advanced network of cross-campus relationships and resources. The advisor will assist the academic unit with interpretation of regulations, policies, offerings and procedures;
create education plans aligned with students aspirations, interests, strengths and values; and implement a personal philosophy of academic advising using multiple advising techniques and styles.
The advisor will build rapport and maintain expert-level relationships with students, adapt advising approaches for a diverse student population, deliver training to advisors within the unit, develop new programming and methods for working with students, and provide leadership within the department/unit and the UAB community.
Salary Range: $46,530 - $75,615
Responsibilities- Provide academic advising to students in the Biomedical Sciences program, using multiple advising techniques and styles.
- Develop education plans that align with students aspirations, interests, strengths, and values.
- Interpret institutional regulations, policies, offerings, and procedures to assist the academic unit.
- Foster a safe, equitable, and inclusive environment responsive to a diverse student population.
- Create and maintain relationships with campus resources and partners to support student success.
- Deliver training to advisors within the unit and develop new programming and methods for working with students.
- Provide leadership within the department/unit and the UAB community.
Master s degree in Counseling, Education or a related field and four (4) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for the education requirement.
