Overview

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking a Nurse Home Visitor to provide comprehensive nursing services to women and their families eligible for the Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) Program. To maintain the highest standards of clinical nursing practice and adherence to NFP model, policies, procedures, guidelines and standards of the NFP and of the lead agency. This position will serve the Mobile, Baldwin, Escambia, Conecuh Counties.

• Develops therapeutic relationships, utilize concepts of reflection and motivational interviewing with women and their families in a home visiting environment. Maintains relationships throughout the healthcare continuum.
• Assesses physical, emotional, social and environmental needs of women and their families as they relate to NFP domains. Provides education, support and referral resources in assisting women and their families in attaining their targeted goals. Demonstrates a willingness to meeting the learning needs of patients and families. Utilizes appropriate resources to meet the needs of families and to achieve positive results.
• Participates in community coalitions in support of NFP, promotes public awareness and develops/maintains community relationships to support client referrals. Creates an environment that promotes educational and growth opportunities for nursing peers and colleagues.
• Supports policies, procedures, guidelines and standards of NFP and the lead agency.

• Supports policies, procedures, guidelines and standards of NFP and the lead agency. Demonstrates respect and understanding for peers and other clinical disciplines and participates as an effective member of the patient care team.
• Demonstrates leadership behaviors and is committed to the development of self and others. Adheres to nursing process and the NFP model of home visitation. Carries a case load of up to 25 clients.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Graduate of an accredited Nursing program required. Bachelor s degree in Nursing or a related field required, or a combination of education and experience. Currently licensed or licensed by endorsement as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required.
