CONTRACTS OFFICER-ACAD RESRCH ORG-CLIN TRIALS (T232229)

General Responsibilities The Contracts Officer-ARO-CT position is responsible for reviewing, editing, routing, negotiating, and executing industry-sponsored and investigator-initiated clinical trials. The ARO-CT officer will represent the University in negotiating terms and conditions of clinical trial agreements with industry sponsors. ARO-CT officers will assist faculty researchers with contractual matters related to clinical trial agreements.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Manage the UAB clinical trial portfolio including agreements, confidentiality agreements, start‑up agreements, master agreements, data use agreements, amendments, work orders, and no‑cost extensions.
  • Ensure institutional Time to Activation (TTA) standards for CT‑related agreements are consistently met.
  • Draft, review, and revise clinical trial agreements, assess risks, identify objectionable terms, and determine appropriate language to secure best position for the University.
  • Ensure that agreements comply with University policies and procedures and federal, state, local, and international regulations and laws.
  • Efficiently negotiate terms and conditions of agreements with third‑party sponsors, and update applicable information systems, including myUABResearch, with detailed progress reports to ensure transparency to the UAB research community.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Salary Pay Range: $57,940 – $94,150

    Minimum Requirements

    Bachelor's degree in Business, Public Administration, Science, or related field and five (5) years of related experience.
    Work experience may NOT substitute for the education requirement.
