To provide grid switch gear technology direction and ensure high voltage (HV) plant switch gear is maintained in a safe and effective manner for continuous sustained, enhanced quality of supply, switch gear key performance indicator (KPI) targets are met, condition monitoring carried out, associated planning and planning systems are utilised to meet regional and organisational objectives.

• Eskom, Transmission business and financial procedures
• Thorough knowledge of Transmission and other quality systems i.e. business management system (BMS) and International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) 9000
• Thorough knowledge of substation functioning with specific emphasis on high voltage (HV) plant switch gear
• High level knowledge of HV plant and related equipment, test gear and diagnostic equipment
• Transmission networks
• Operating Regulations for High Voltage Systems (ORHVS) and Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA)
• Customer requirements

• National Diploma / National N Diploma Electrical at NQF level 6 with 240 Credits

• 5 Years High Voltage Plant Maintenance experience
