Supervise, co-ordinate and perform in safe and effective manner servitude and line maintenance, including defect repairs and restoration tasks on Transmission lines using approved tools, equipment, procedures and techniques to ensure optimal line performance and a sustainable and continuous quality of supply. Task Grade: T11.Business Unit:
Western Grid.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and carry out power line inspection, hardware defect repairs, servitude maintenance and operating.
• Fault investigation
• Supervise and carry out power line emergency restoration tasks
• Compliance to Safety, Health and Environmental Policies
• Mentoring and coaching.

Knowledge:

• Working knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of line work
• Considerable knowledge of the principles of electrical theory
• Transmission network knowledge
• ORHVS Authorization to take plant handover
• Basic knowledge of OHSACT
• Basic knowledge of software application, TWS, FALLS, LLS, TXSIS, AFIS, SAP PM, phoenix

Skills:

• Communication
• Operation of the listed tools and equipment
• Driver’s License Code 8 and Advanced 4X4 driving skills
• Computer literate (particular Microsoft Word and Excel packages)
• Level 2 Line Maintenance Competency Authorisation
• Level 4 (ERS Lead Supervisor) Construction Competency Authorisation
• Advanced rigging skills

Qualification(s):

• Trade Certificate Electrical at NQF 4 with 120 Credits

• 5 Years’ Transmission network and discipline related equipment (Lines and HV Plant) experience
