Civil Engineer - Road and Transport Design

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Civil Engineer with a focus on road and transport design to join their team in Upington. You will be responsible for designing and developing transportation infrastructure projects that enhance connectivity and mobility in the region. This role involves intricate planning, analysis, and design work, ensuring that projects are safe, efficient, and sustainable. You will collaborate with a team of engineers and planners to deliver high-quality infrastructure solutions for the Northern Cape province.

• Design and develop road alignments, intersection layouts, and pavement designs.
• Perform traffic analysis and capacity studies to inform design decisions.
• Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for road projects.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant road design standards (e.g., AASHTO, South African standards).
• Coordinate with other disciplines, such as drainage and utility engineers.
• Conduct site visits to assess existing conditions and monitor construction progress.

• BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in road design and transportation engineering.
• Proficiency in CAD software and road design software (e.g., Civil 3D, AutoCAD).
• Experience with traffic modeling software is a plus.
• Strong understanding of pavement design principles and materials.
