About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive Mechanical Engineer to focus on reliability and asset management in Upington . This critical role involves enhancing the lifespan and performance of mechanical assets through systematic analysis, strategic maintenance planning, and the implementation of reliability-centered principles. You will work closely with maintenance and operations teams to identify failure modes, optimize maintenance strategies, and ensure the long-term integrity of plant equipment.

The position offers a challenging opportunity to drive significant improvements in operational efficiency and cost savings within a key industrial hub.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive asset management strategies to maximize equipment reliability and lifespan.
  • Conduct Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for critical mechanical equipment.
  • Utilize condition monitoring techniques (vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis) to predict and prevent failures.
  • Optimize maintenance schedules and spare parts management to reduce costs and improve uptime.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams on equipment upgrades and replacements.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and safety regulations pertaining to asset integrity.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 4-6 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on reliability engineering and asset management.
  • Strong understanding of maintenance strategies, condition monitoring techniques, and reliability principles.
  • Experience with CMMS and reliability analysis software.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
