Civil Engineer - Roads & Highways

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to focus on roads and highways projects in the Upington region. This role involves the design, planning, and oversight of road infrastructure development, ensuring safety, efficiency, and sustainability. You will work on projects ranging from new highway construction to road upgrades, collaborating with a dedicated team and external stakeholders. This position requires a strong technical background in road design and a commitment to delivering high-quality infrastructure solutions.

• Lead the design and planning of road networks, including geometric design, pavement design, and intersection design.
• Prepare detailed design drawings, technical specifications, and construction documentation.
• Conduct traffic studies, feasibility assessments, and route selection analyses.
• Oversee construction activities, ensuring compliance with design specifications and quality standards.
• Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources effectively.
• Liaise with clients, government authorities, and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in road and highway design and project engineering.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with ECSA is essential.
• Proficiency in road design software (e.g., Civil 3D, MX Road) and traffic analysis tools.
• Strong knowledge of pavement engineering, drainage design, and construction materials.
• Excellent project management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
