Design and Development Mechanical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive Design and Development Mechanical Engineer to join their innovative team in Mahikeng . This role is central to conceptualizing, designing, and bringing new mechanical products and systems to life. You will work through the entire product development lifecycle, from initial ideation and concept design to detailed engineering and prototyping. Operating within a hybrid work model, you'll collaborate closely with R&D, manufacturing, and marketing teams to ensure successful product launches.

• Conceptualize, design, and develop innovative mechanical products and systems using 3D CAD software.
• Create detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and bill of materials (BOMs) for manufacturing.
• Perform engineering analysis, including stress, thermal, and kinematic simulations, to validate designs.
• Oversee prototyping and testing activities, analyzing results and making necessary design iterations.
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to ensure designs are optimized for production processes and cost-effectiveness.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and materials relevant to product design and development.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 4+ years of experience in mechanical design and product development.
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, Inventor) and basic simulation tools.
• Strong understanding of material properties, manufacturing methods, and design for manufacturability (DFM).
• Experience with prototyping and testing methodologies.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills for a hybrid team environment.
