About the Role
Our client is looking for an experienced Commissioning Chemical Engineer to oversee the start-up and integration of new chemical plant equipment and processes in Upington . This hands-on role is critical for ensuring that new facilities and modifications are safely and effectively brought online, meeting all design specifications and operational requirements. You will play a key role in testing, troubleshooting, and finalizing plant operations before handover to the production team.
This position offers a unique opportunity to be involved in the critical phase of plant deployment in the dynamic industrial landscape of the Northern Cape .
- Develop and execute commissioning plans and procedures for new chemical plant equipment and systems.
- Perform pre-commissioning checks, functional testing, and performance trials.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues identified during the commissioning phase.
- Ensure safe start-up operations, adhering to all safety protocols and permits.
- Collaborate with engineering, construction, and operations teams throughout the commissioning process.
- Review project documentation, including P&IDs, equipment manuals, and operating procedures.
- Provide training to operations personnel on new equipment and processes.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in commissioning, start-up, or operations support for chemical plants.
- Strong understanding of chemical processes, equipment, and instrumentation.
- Proven experience in troubleshooting complex operational issues.
- Excellent safety awareness and commitment to safe work practices.
- Good communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
