About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented Geophysicist specializing in Seismic Interpretation to join their exploration team supporting operations in the Upington, Northern Cape region. This role is fundamental to identifying and evaluating subsurface structures and potential hydrocarbon reservoirs through the analysis of seismic data. You will work closely with geologists and reservoir engineers to build integrated subsurface models and contribute to the company's exploration strategy.
This position offers the chance to work on diverse geological plays and contribute to significant exploration projects within the energy sector.
- Interpret 2D and 3D seismic data to identify geological structures, faults, and strati graphic features.
- Perform seismic attribute analysis and inversion to map reservoir properties.
- Integrate seismic data with well logs, core data, and other geological information.
- Generate prospect maps and volumetric assessments for potential hydrocarbon accumulations.
- Collaborate with geological and reservoir engineering teams on field development planning.
- Contribute to the development and application of new seismic processing and interpretation techniques.
- Master's degree or PhD in Geophysics or a related Earth Science discipline.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in seismic interpretation, with a focus on exploration within the Oil & Gas industry .
- Proficiency with industry-standard seismic interpretation software (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom Suite).
- Strong understanding of seismic acquisition, processing, and data quality control.
- Experience with AVO analysis and attribute interpretation.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong communication abilities.
