HVAC Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled HVAC Design Engineer to join their dedicated team in Upington, Northern Cape . This role requires a strong on-site presence, focusing on the design and implementation of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning systems for various building projects. You will be responsible for ensuring optimal indoor environmental quality, energy efficiency, and system performance. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented engineer with expertise in HVAC principles and a passion for creating comfortable and sustainable built environments through robust design solutions.

• Design and specify HVAC systems, including air handling units, ductwork, chillers, boilers, and controls.
• Perform load calculations, energy modeling, and system performance simulations.
• Prepare detailed design drawings, specifications, and Bills of Quantities (BOQ).
• Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, and contractors to ensure seamless integration of HVAC systems.
• Conduct site visits for inspections, commissioning, and troubleshooting of installed systems.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant building codes, standards, and energy efficiency regulations.

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with a specialization in HVAC.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in HVAC system design.
• Proficiency in HVAC design software (e.g., AutoCAD MEP, Revit MEP, HAP).
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and psychrometrics.
• Knowledge of building codes and energy efficiency standards.
