About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Civil Engineer with expertise in water resource management to join their team in Upington, Northern Cape. This role is integral to managing the region's precious water resources, focusing on sustainable water supply, flood control, and environmental protection. You will be involved in planning, designing, and implementing projects related to dams, irrigation systems, and water conservation initiatives, working with environmental agencies and local communities.
This position offers a chance to contribute to critical environmental and infrastructural challenges in an arid region.
- Plan, design, and oversee the construction of water resource infrastructure, such as dams, canals, and pipelines.
- Develop strategies for effective flood management and drought mitigation.
- Conduct hydrological studies and water balance analyses.
- Assess the environmental impact of water projects and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including agricultural bodies, government departments, and environmental groups.
- Monitor the performance of existing water systems and recommend improvements.
- BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering, with a specialization in Hydrology or Water Resources.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in water resource engineering or management.
- Proficiency in hydrological modeling software and GIS.
- Strong understanding of dam safety regulations, irrigation techniques, and water quality management.
- Experience with environmental impact assessments related to water projects.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills.
