Our client, a significant entity in the Energy sector , is looking for an experienced Transmission Line Engineer to join their team in Upington . This role is essential for the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of high-voltage transmission lines, ensuring the efficient and reliable transfer of electricity across vast distances. You will be involved in projects that are critical to the regional power infrastructure, working within a team dedicated to excellence and innovation in energy transmission.
This hybrid position balances essential fieldwork with office-based engineering tasks.
- Design and engineer high-voltage transmission lines, including tower spotting, conductor selection, and sag/tension calculations.
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
- Conduct site investigations, feasibility studies, and route selection for new transmission line projects.
- Oversee the construction and commissioning phases, ensuring compliance with design and safety standards.
- Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and regulatory bodies throughout the project lifecycle.
- Perform condition assessments and develop maintenance strategies for existing transmission line assets.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in the design and engineering of high-voltage transmission lines .
- Proficiency with transmission line design software (e.g., PLS-CADD, CAT).
- Strong understanding of relevant industry standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE) and environmental regulations.
- Experience with project management principles and construction oversight.
