Our client is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to contribute to significant infrastructure projects in Upington. This role involves the design and analysis of structures such as bridges, water retaining structures, and industrial facilities, ensuring their safety, stability, and longevity. You will work collaboratively with a team of engineers and designers to deliver robust and innovative structural solutions that meet demanding project requirements.
The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of structural mechanics and materials, with a proven ability to manage complex design challenges in a project-driven environment.
- Perform structural analysis and design for a variety of infrastructure projects, including bridges, culverts, and industrial buildings.
- Develop detailed structural drawings, calculations, and specifications using relevant codes and standards.
- Ensure designs are optimized for constructability, cost-effectiveness, and long-term durability.
- Conduct site inspections to monitor construction progress and provide technical support.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, architects, and contractors to ensure integrated design solutions.
- Review shop drawings and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) from the construction team.
- BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structural Engineering.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in structural design for infrastructure projects.
- Professional registration with ECSA (Pr Eng).
- Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., SAP
2000, STAAD.Pro, CSiBridge). - Experience with bridge design , steel structures, and reinforced concrete.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
