Process Safety Engineer

Our client is seeking an experienced Process Safety Engineer to join their team in Upington. This crucial role ensures the implementation and maintenance of robust safety systems to prevent hazardous incidents in oil and gas operations. You will conduct hazard identification studies, risk assessments, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. This position offers a vital opportunity to contribute to a safe working environment and protect assets and personnel within the company's Northern Cape operations.

• Lead and participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) such as HAZOP and LOPA studies.
• Develop and implement safety management systems and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with process safety regulations and industry best practices.
• Conduct safety audits and inspections of facilities and operations.
• Investigate incidents and near misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
• Provide training and guidance on process safety to operational staff.

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in process safety engineering within the oil and gas or chemical industry.
• In-depth knowledge of PHA methodologies, risk assessment techniques, and safety regulations.
• Familiarity with safety instrumented systems (SIS) and layers of protection analysis (LOPA).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration in Upington.
