Electrical Engineering Technician - Power Systems

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Electrical Engineering Technician to join their power systems team in Upington. This hands-on role is essential for supporting the installation, testing, maintenance, and repair of electrical infrastructure, particularly in the renewable energy sector prevalent in the region. You will work closely with engineers to ensure the optimal performance and safety of power generation and distribution equipment.

• Assist in the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical equipment, including solar panels, inverters, and grid-connection components.
• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on electrical systems and equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults on low and medium voltage systems under supervision.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
• Conduct site surveys and assist in data collection for electrical engineering projects.
• Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and company procedures during fieldwork.

• National Diploma or N6 qualification in Electrical Engineering (Light or Heavy Current).
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Electrical Engineering Technician or similar role.
• Hands-on experience with low and medium voltage systems is required.
• Familiarity with solar PV systems and associated electrical components is advantageous.
• Ability to use electrical testing equipment and diagnostic tools.
• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
