Senior Chemical Process Development Engineer

Our client is seeking a highly accomplished Senior Chemical Process Development Engineer to join their operations in Upington . This role is pivotal in driving innovation and efficiency within our chemical manufacturing processes. You will lead projects focused on process improvement, scale-up, and the implementation of new technologies, ensuring optimal performance and sustainability. Working on-site, you will collaborate closely with production, engineering, and research teams to translate laboratory discoveries into robust, commercially viable processes.

This is a key role for an experienced engineer aiming to make a significant impact.

• Lead the development, optimization, and scale-up of chemical processes from bench to commercial scale.
• Design experiments, analyze data, and develop robust process control strategies.
• Conduct techno-economic evaluations and feasibility studies for new process initiatives.
• Prepare detailed process designs, including PFDs, P&IDs, mass/energy balances, and equipment specifications.
• Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting support during process commissioning and ongoing operations.
• Ensure all process development activities adhere to the highest standards of safety, quality, and environmental compliance.

• Master's or PhD in Chemical Engineering .
• 7+ years of experience in process development, scale-up, and chemical manufacturing environments.
• Proven expertise in reaction engineering, separation processes, and process modeling.
• Experience with HAZOP, risk assessments, and process safety management.
• Strong project management skills and the ability to lead technical teams.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving capabilities for an on-site role.
