Junior Electrical Design Engineer

Our client, a progressive engineering firm focused on renewable energy solutions, is seeking an enthusiastic Junior Electrical Design Engineer to join their growing team in Upington, Northern Cape
. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career engineer looking to build a strong foundation in electrical design. You will work under the mentorship of senior engineers, contributing to the design and development of electrical systems for solar power installations and related projects. This role offers hands-on experience and the chance to contribute to sustainable energy initiatives in a key region for renewable energy development.

• Assist senior engineers in the design of electrical systems, including schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams for solar PV projects.
• Perform basic electrical calculations related to power, voltage drop, and component sizing.
• Support the preparation of design documentation, specifications, and reports.
• Conduct site surveys and assessments as required, under supervision.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure design accuracy and adherence to project requirements.
• Assist in the procurement process by identifying required electrical components.
• Learn and apply relevant electrical codes, standards, and best practices.
• Participate in design reviews and contribute to problem-solving efforts.
• Maintain project documentation and drawings in an organized manner.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• A recent graduate or up to 2 years of experience in electrical design or a related field.
• Basic understanding of electrical principles, power systems, and circuit design.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar CAD software is a strong advantage.
• Knowledge of solar PV systems and components is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, potentially commuting to an office in or near Upington, Northern Cape
