Senior Reliability Engineer

Our client, a leader in the mining and heavy industry sector, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Reliability Engineer to join their strategic operations based in Upington, Northern Cape, ZA . The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of asset management, predictive and preventive maintenance strategies, and failure analysis techniques.

You will be instrumental in developing and implementing programs that minimize unplanned downtime, reduce maintenance costs, and extend the lifecycle of essential industrial assets. • Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive reliability and maintenance strategies for all critical plant equipment.
• Utilize predictive maintenance technologies (e.g., vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis) to identify potential equipment failures before they occur.
• Conduct root cause failure analysis (RCFA) on equipment breakdowns to identify underlying issues and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and optimize preventive maintenance (PM) schedules and strategies to maximize equipment availability and minimize risks.
• Analyze maintenance data and performance metrics to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for cost savings.
• Collaborate closely with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams to ensure effective implementation of reliability programs.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, including equipment histories, failure reports, and maintenance procedures.
• Specify and recommend upgrades or modifications to equipment to improve reliability and reduce maintenance requirements.
• Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies in asset management and reliability engineering.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to maintenance technicians and junior engineers.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in reliability engineering, maintenance engineering, or asset management, preferably within heavy industry or mining.
• Proven expertise in implementing and managing predictive and preventive maintenance programs.
• Strong knowledge of RCFA methodologies and tools.
• Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) software.
• Proficiency in data analysis and statistical tools for reliability assessment.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills for effective team collaboration.
• Relevant certifications such as CMRP (Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional) are highly desirable.
• Ability to work effectively on-site in Upington, Northern Cape, ZA and contribute to operational excellence.
