Senior Radio Access Network; RAN) Specialist

Our client, a leading innovator in telecommunications infrastructure, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Radio Access Network (RAN) Specialist to join their technical team in Upington, Northern Cape . This role is critical for the design, implementation, optimization, and troubleshooting of our client's advanced RAN systems. You will play a key part in ensuring the performance, capacity, and reliability of our mobile network services.

The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of 4G/LTE and 5G RAN technologies, coupled with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. This is an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology in a vital sector, contributing to the connectivity of the Northern Cape region.

• Design, deploy, and configure RAN equipment, including base stations, antennas, and controllers.
• Optimize RAN performance to ensure high availability, capacity, and quality of service.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex RAN-related issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
• Conduct site surveys and feasibility studies for new RAN deployments and upgrades.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for RAN configurations and procedures.
• Collaborate with other engineering teams (core, transport) to ensure seamless network integration.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in RAN technology, including 5G  and standards.
• Perform capacity planning and analysis for RAN elements.
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and field technicians.
• Monitor network performance and KPIs, reporting on key metrics and trends.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in Radio Access Network (RAN) engineering.
• Strong expertise in 4G/LTE and 5G RAN technologies (e.g., eNodeB, gNB, RAN protocols).
• Proficiency with RAN optimization tools and techniques.
• Experience with RF planning and performance analysis.
• Familiarity with network simulators and planning software is a plus.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Experience with specific vendor equipment (e.g., Ericsson, Nokia, Huawei) is advantageous.
• Willingness to travel within the Northern Cape as required.
