About the Role

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and technically adept Technical Theatre Production Assistant to support their productions in Upington . This role is vital for the successful execution of live performances, assisting with lighting, sound, set construction, and stage management. You will work closely with directors, designers, and performers to bring creative visions to life on stage. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a passion for theatre and technical production to gain hands‑on experience within a dedicated arts organization in the Northern Cape.

• Assist in the setup, operation, and maintenance of lighting, sound, and stage equipment for performances and rehearsals.
• Support stage management duties, including cueing, scene changes, and backstage coordination.
• Collaborate with technical directors and designers on production requirements and implementation.
• Participate in set construction, scenic painting, and prop management as needed.
• Ensure all technical equipment is functioning safely and effectively, reporting any issues promptly.

• Experience or demonstrable interest in technical theatre production, stagecraft, or related fields.
• Basic understanding of lighting, sound systems, and stage operations.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by production schedules.
