About the Role
Our client is seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Energy Trader to join their trading desk in Mahikeng . This role involves managing positions in various energy commodity markets, including electricity, natural gas, and related derivatives. You will be responsible for executing trades, managing risk, and identifying profitable opportunities in fast-paced, volatile markets. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of market dynamics, and the ability to make quick, informed decisions under pressure.
This is a high-impact role within the energy trading sector , offering significant responsibility and potential for reward.
- Execute trades in energy commodity markets (electricity, gas, power derivatives) based on market analysis and risk parameters.
- Monitor market movements, news, and economic indicators to identify trading opportunities.
- Manage and actively mitigate trading risks within defined limits.
- Develop and implement trading strategies to maximize profitability and optimize portfolio performance.
- Collaborate with risk management, quantitative analysis, and operations teams.
- Maintain accurate trade records and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in energy trading or commodity trading.
- Proven track record of successful trading performance and risk management.
- Strong understanding of energy market fundamentals , trading platforms, and financial instruments.
- Excellent analytical, quantitative, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure trading environment.
