About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Information Security Specialist with a focus on compliance to join their team in Upington. This role is crucial for ensuring that the organization's information security practices align with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies. You will be responsible for conducting compliance assessments, managing documentation, and supporting audit activities to maintain a strong security posture.
This is a key position for a professional looking to contribute to security governance in the Northern Cape region, ensuring robust data protection and adherence to best practices.
- Ensure adherence to relevant data protection regulations (e.g., POPIA) and industry security standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST).
- Conduct regular compliance assessments and audits of IT systems, policies, and procedures.
- Develop, maintain, and update security documentation, including policies, standards, and procedures.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation and coordinating with stakeholders.
- Identify compliance gaps and recommend corrective actions, tracking their implementation.
- Assist in managing risk assessments and developing mitigation strategies for identified risks.
- Promote security awareness and compliance throughout the organization.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Law, or a related field.
- 2-4 years of experience in information security, IT compliance, or risk management.
- Solid understanding of data privacy laws and cybersecurity frameworks.
- Experience with documentation management and audit support processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Relevant certifications such as CIPP, CISA, or CISSP are a plus.
