Senior System Administrator

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior System Administrator to manage and maintain their IT infrastructure in Mahikeng . This role is critical for ensuring the smooth operation, reliability, and security of all server systems, networks, and related technologies. You will be responsible for system installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and possesses a deep understanding of server operating systems, network protocols, and security best practices, contributing to a stable and efficient technological environment.

• Install, configure, and maintain server hardware and operating systems (Windows Server, Linux).
• Manage network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
• Monitor system performance, identify potential issues, and implement proactive solutions to ensure optimal uptime.
• Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery solutions.
• Ensure the security of the IT infrastructure through regular patching, vulnerability assessments, and security best practices.
• Provide technical support and troubleshoot issues for end-users and other IT staff.
• Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of experience in system administration or network administration.
• Strong proficiency in managing Windows Server and Linux environments.
• Experience with network configuration and management, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPNs.
• Knowledge of virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper‑V).
• Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Power Shell, Bash) is a plus.
