Telecoms Network Security Specialist

Our client is seeking a dedicated Telecoms Network Security Specialist to safeguard their network infrastructure against cyber threats in Upington . This crucial role involves implementing and managing security measures, monitoring for vulnerabilities, and responding to security incidents to protect sensitive data and ensure service continuity. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of network security principles, experience with security tools, and a proactive mindset towards threat mitigation and risk management within the telecommunications landscape.

• Implement, configure, and maintain network security devices, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDPS), and VPN gateways.
• Monitor network traffic for suspicious activities and security breaches, analyzing logs and alerts.
• Develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and best practices across the network.
• Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration tests.
• Respond to and investigate security incidents, coordinating remediation efforts.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest security threats, trends, and technologies relevant to the telecommunications industry.

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience in network security, preferably within a telecommunications environment.
• In-depth knowledge of firewalls, IDPS, VPNs, and other security technologies.
• Familiarity with security protocols and standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Relevant security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CCNA Security, CompTIA Security+) are highly desirable.
