Senior Chemist - Organic Synthesis

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Chemist specializing in Organic Synthesis to join their state-of-the-art research and development facility in Upington . This role is critical for the design, execution, and optimization of complex synthetic routes for novel chemical compounds. You will work within a collaborative team environment, contributing to the discovery and development of new materials and pharmaceuticals.

• Design and execute multi-step synthetic pathways for complex organic molecules.
• Optimize reaction conditions to improve yields, purity, and efficiency.
• Characterize synthesized compounds using advanced analytical techniques (NMR, MS, HPLC, GC).
• Troubleshoot synthetic challenges and develop innovative solutions.
• Lead and mentor junior chemists on synthesis projects.
• Maintain detailed laboratory records and contribute to technical reports and publications.

• PhD in Organic Chemistry or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral or industry experience in synthetic organic chemistry.
• Proven track record of successfully designing and executing complex organic syntheses.
• Expertise in modern synthetic methodologies and reaction mechanisms.
• Proficiency with analytical techniques for compound characterization (e.g., NMR , MS , Chromatography).
• Strong problem-solving skills and excellent communication abilities for collaboration in our Upington R&D center.
