Community Advocate

Our client is seeking a committed Community Advocate to champion the needs and rights of individuals and groups within the Upington, Northern Cape area. This role involves actively engaging with the community to identify challenges, provide support, and connect individuals with essential services and resources. You will serve as a vital link between the community and relevant support systems, empowering residents and ensuring their voices are heard.

The ideal candidate is passionate about social justice, possesses strong interpersonal skills, and is dedicated to fostering positive change and improving the quality of life for the residents of Upington through dedicated advocacy and support efforts.

• Identify community needs and advocate for the rights and interests of individuals and groups.
• Provide information, guidance, and support to community members seeking access to services.
• Facilitate communication between community members and service providers, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
• Organize and participate in community outreach initiatives and awareness campaigns.
• Assist individuals in navigating complex systems and resolving issues they may encounter.
• Document advocacy efforts, client interactions, and outcomes achieved.

• A relevant qualification in Social Work, Community Development, Law, or a related field.
• Proven experience in advocacy, community work, or social support roles.
• Strong understanding of social issues, human rights, and available community resources.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to build trust and rapport with diverse populations in the community.
