About the Role
Our client, operating within the vital mining sector, is seeking a skilled and experienced Mining Sector Driver based in Upington . This role requires operating specialized vehicles to transport personnel, equipment, and materials to and from various mine sites in the challenging terrain of the Northern Cape . Safety, reliability, and adherence to strict operational protocols are paramount. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in demanding environments, a robust understanding of vehicle operation in rugged conditions, and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities- Operate specific vehicles (e.g., light trucks, personnel carriers) safely and efficiently on mine sites and surrounding access roads.
- Transport personnel, tools, equipment, and supplies to designated locations according to schedules.
- Conduct thorough pre-operation checks on all vehicles, ensuring they are in optimal condition.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, site rules, and company policies.
- Maintain accurate logs of trips, fuel consumption, and any maintenance performed.
- Assist with basic vehicle maintenance and report any mechanical issues immediately.
- Valid Code 10 driver's license with an appropriate PDP.
- Minimum of 3 years of driving experience, with specific experience in mining or challenging off-road environments highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to operate vehicles safely in rough terrain and varying weather conditions.
- Strong understanding of mine site safety procedures and protocols.
- Excellent navigational skills and familiarity with the Northern Cape region.
- Ability to work flexible hours and adapt to changing operational needs.
