Accounting Manager

The Accounting Manager manages day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and month-end closings. This role partners closely with project managers to analyze job costs, profitability, and project performance, ensuring strong financial controls and accurate cost tracking.

The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and highly proficient in advanced Excel, with a background in construction or project-based accounting environments.

• Assist the Controller with daily accounting operations and monthly close activities.
• Collaborate with project managers to monitor budgets, evaluate job costs, and assess project profitability.
• Develop and improve financial reporting models and tools using advanced Excel and Google Sheets.
• Prepare and post journal entries while maintaining the integrity of the general ledger.
• Review aging reports and ensure accurate cash flow management.
• Analyze financial statements, reconciliations, job cost reports, and variance analyses.
• Identify and implement process improvements to streamline accounting procedures and improve data accuracy.
• Provide leadership with actionable financial insights and recommendations based on trend analysis.
• Lead special projects and prepare ad hoc reports as needed.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.

• Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in construction, utilities, or related industries
  .
• Advanced Excel proficiency (pivot tables, complex formulas, data modeling required).
• Experience with construction accounting systems such as Microsoft Dynamics Solomon or SAP S/4
  
  HANA preferred.
• Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP, and project accounting principles
  .
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, handle multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.

Salary Range: $110,000 $ 120,000 annually (based on experience)
