Position Information

Community Program Staff will support events in the following areas:
East LA, Boyle Heights, Downey, Cudahy, Bell Gardens, Maywood, Huntington Park, Rowland Heights, Hacienda Heights, South LA, Exposition Park, Jefferson Park, and surrounding areas.

Position Summary

Girl Scout badge program implementation in Greater Los Angeles is a collaborative effort led by the Community Program Staff, who work closely with program partners and industry experts to coordinate engaging and high‑quality experiences for members.

Our programs and events feature a wide range of opportunities, including but not limited to:

  • Earning badges
  • Targeted programming for younger girls, incorporating collaborations and progression models as part of the Girl Scout Year Plan
  • Additional council‑led programs and events as needed
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Program preparation
    • Prepare all necessary materials to host a program
    • Assemble partner bins
    • Review the run of show, ensuring timing, roles, and transitions
  • Assist in check‑in/out, direction, supervision, and organization of Girl Scout members during programs/events to meet intended outcomes
    • Apply basic youth development principles in working with participants through communication, relationship development, respect for diversity, involvement, and empowerment of youth.
    • Ensure participants are always properly supervised as part of our Adult/Girl Safety Ratios.
    • Be aware of and implement safety guidelines.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of program activities within the mission and outcomes
    • Responsible for leading a program rotation and assisting with its activities.
    • Actively participate in all program areas as assigned.
  • Be a role model by adhering to GSGLA Core Values.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Must submit health history form prior to first day of work.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
  • Willingness to travel across a large geographical area as needed.
  • May lift up to 50 lbs. periodically. If more, the incumbent must request assistance.
  • Ability to visually monitor and physically assist participants weighing up to 200 lbs.
  • Ability to endure periods of prolonged standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching.
  • Willingness to work at locations with daily exposure to various weather conditions and animals such as bugs, raccoons, and other wildlife common to the area.
  • Ability to perform this job safely, without endangering the health or safety of themselves or others.
Recommended Education, Training, And Experience
  • Must be 18 years of age or be an approved Girl Scout CIT with access to transportation.
  • Documented experience delivering youth programming or youth curriculum.
GSGLA Employee Requirements
  • Comply with state‑mandated reporter training.
  • Attend GSGLA signature events and/or other activities as assigned.
  • Must successfully complete a Live Scan and background check.
