Teaching and Learning Assistant

Position: Full-Time Teaching and Learning Assistant
Become a crucial part of St. Peters Elementary as a full-time Teaching and Learning Assistant in Upper Island Cove. Support teaching efforts, assist with student learning, and help create an inclusive environment.

This role is a full-time position in student services ers Elementary from September 8, 2026, to June 25, 2027. You will engage with the Service Delivery Team to enhance the classroom experience through planning, instruction, and assessment. Ideal candidates will demonstrate effective communication skills and a commitment to fostering a positive, safe learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in implementing instructional programs and services

• Support student executive functioning skills and coregulation

• Observe and report student progress to the Service Delivery Team

• Promote inclusivity in classroom and non-instructional activities

• Utilize specialized assistive technologies for students

Requirements:

• Teacher's Certificate Level Two (II) from Education Department

• Knowledge in child and youth development

• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities

• Commitment to ongoing professional learning

• Experience with de-escalation strategies
