Veterinary Student Externship at American Veterinary Group (AVG)
Department: Urgent Vet Hospitals
Location: Urgent Vet - Upper St. Clair
Description: The primary purpose of our Veterinary Student Externship is to provide a hands‑on learning experience for 3rd and 4th‑year students enrolled in a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program. The program is typically scheduled for 2‑week blocks. We look for students who are open‑minded and willing to learn.
Key Responsibilities- Perform inpatient and outpatient medical care under direct supervision.
- Conduct in‑house diagnostic tests (hematology, chemistry, radiology) competently.
- Provide routine client education.
- Assist in surgical procedures.
- Current enrollment in an AVMA‑accredited Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program.
- Open mind and willingness to learn.
