Opportunity DetailsCarle Cancer Institute and Carle Illinois College of Medicine are excited to add an academic surgical oncologist to their team. The candidate should have experience with a broad range of surgical oncology conditions and have expertise in gastrointestinal malignancies, such as stomach, liver, pancreas, biliary tract cancers, small bowel cancer, adrenal tumors, melanoma, soft tissue sarcomas, and occasionally assist the oncology team in Urbana with rare excisional nodal biopsies and feeding tube placement.
Training and interest in minimally invasive surgery are preferred.

Responsibilities- Participate in the weekly Upper GI Tumor Board.
- Provide outpatient clinic care at the Carle Cancer Institute.
- Collaborate closely with Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, and Advanced GI Endoscopy.
- Assist with rare excisional nodal biopsies and feeding tube placement as needed.
- Engage in clinical research opportunities through the Stephens Family Clinical Research Institute and the UIUC Basic Science Cancer Center.
- Contribute to teaching Carle Illinois College of Medicine medical students and general surgery residents.
- Post‑fellowship clinical experience in surgical oncology.
- Board‑certified in general surgery and complex general surgical oncology.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for program building.
- Strong academic background and willingness to dedicate protected research/academic time.

Compensationand Benefits
The compensation range for this position is $525,000 – $600,000. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked, and compensation model.
