Coordinator - Mental Health Early Action on Campus

Job SummaryProvide oversight and management of the externally funded Mental Health Early Action on Campus (MHEAC) Act, addressing gaps in mental health services on campus through training, peer support, and community‑campus partnerships.
Duties & Responsibilities- Daily management of campus MHEAC programs and activities including scheduling and attending meetings, gathering, drafting/editing, and distributing materials, and providing act/grant information as requested.
- Serve as an integral part of the MHEAC Act/grant coordination team with responsibility for developing strategies to effectively manage and enhance programs and activities funded by the grant.
- Serve as the MHEAC representative and campus liaison; coordinate outreach initiatives and promotion of the Act’s mission and objectives, engage in the campus community and serve as an expert, advisor, and resource.
- Provide oversight of training and educational initiatives; plan, coordinate and facilitate training, educational programs, and presentations for internal and external training needs, and lead training programs to ensure related activities fulfill grant requirements.
- Gather data, draft, and finalize quarterly and annual reports for the Illinois Board of Higher Education.
- Research health and well‑being grant funding opportunities; identify key stakeholders and coordinate efforts to develop strong grant funding applications.
- Coordinate outreach initiatives across digital engagement platforms such as SOS for Higher Ed:
Suicide Prevention for Students and Togetherall; remain abreast of the Illinois App and other campus platforms including Campus Well. - Research, interpret, and apply all relevant federal and state regulations and laws, University and sponsor policies, and sponsoring agency terms and conditions; advise University staff on how to best maintain compliance.
Standard office setting with some distractions such as phone calls, inter‑office conversations, and visitors. While the work is primarily sedentary, some on‑campus travel is required to attend meetings and training sessions.
Minimum Qualifications Education- Bachelor’s degree in public health, psychology, social work, higher education administration, public administration, or a field related to the position.
- Two (2) years in education, training and/or work experience in educational programming, grant administration, and/or project management.
- Demonstrated experience managing projects or grants that included budgeting and report preparation.
- Experience developing or coordinating training programs and/or initiatives.
- Master’s degree in counseling, social work, public health, higher education, or a related field.
- Two years or more of experience working in a college or university mental health, wellness, or student services setting.
- Experience managing externally funded projects or grants, including budgeting, compliance tracking, program evaluation, and report preparation.
- Experience with digital engagement platforms or online systems used for mental health and wellbeing programming.
- Experience leading or facilitating training sessions, workshops, or peer education programs related to mental health or wellness.
- Familiarity with state and federal regulations related to mental health services or grant compliance, demonstrated through work or training.
Skills and Abilities
- Basic computer knowledge:
Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, etc. - Strong communication, project support/management, and time management skills.
- Business, planning, organizing, decision making, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines while producing high‑quality deliverables.
- Ability to foster a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment.
- Report writing skills.
- Skillset working with digital wellness platforms (SOS for Higher Ed: Suicide Prevention for Students, Togetherall, etc.).
- Expertise and knowledge in providing general administrative services.
