Pay Range$26.00/hr – $36.00/hr
General SummaryUnder supervision of the Director of Radiology and the Assistant Director of Radiology, the Imaging Technologist I is an entry‑level x‑ray or sonography position performing a wide variety of imaging exams on patients. Radiology provides services on a 24/7/365 basis and this position can be scheduled to work for any shift, any day (including weekends and holidays), and may include call rotations as needed.
Position may be scheduled at any imaging facility within the Gibson Area Hospital & Health Services organization.
Position consists of one of the following technologists:
- ARRT Registry‑eligible technologist. Technologist must possess temporary license issued by IEMA;
Division of Nuclear Safety. - A technologist registered by the ARRT as a R.T.(R) with active license issued by the IEMA;
Division of Nuclear Safety. - A non‑registered sonographer who has met any of the prerequisite criteria to sit for the RDMS SPI examination or is making satisfactory progress towards eligibility.

Principle Duties And Responsibilities- Show and prove competencies on equipment that the employee utilizes, including x‑ray equipment and/or ultrasound/sonography units. Also demonstrate competency on peripheral equipment within the department.
- Show and prove competencies for exams performed.
- Perform requested exams in a reasonable timeframe and with high quality.
- Understand and utilize ALARA.
- Understand and utilize age‑specific communication and abilities.
- Treat equipment with care.
- Keep work area clean and organized.
- Actively seek to help others whenever possible and be willing to take on extra duties.
- Willingness to cross‑train and do “non‑tech” jobs.
- Maintain patient privacy and dignity during exams. Understand HIPAA and the relationship of trust with the patient.
- Mindful of radiation safety to patient, self, and others.
- Strictly follow hospital infection control policies.
- Willing to work odd hours during emergencies and vacations, and take call as needed.
- Maintain paperwork in a current and correct manner. Assure all exam paperwork is scanned and saved in PACS.
- Assist in the maintenance of quality assurance on all department equipment.
- Maintain licensure current and up‑to‑date.
- Master exam paperwork and be proficient in the use of PACS.
- Transport patients when necessary to and from the department in an appropriate manner.
- Collaborate and coordinate care and imaging consistent with departmental protocol and instruction of the radiologist.
- Maintain and assist with departmental documentation and day‑to‑day reconciliation processes.
