OverviewThe Nurse Manager, PACU/Pre-Op manages and supervises functions of assigned patient care area on a 24-hour basis; ensures effective delivery of clinical patient care and compliance with administrative, quality and clinical policies and procedures.
Qualifications- Certifications:
- Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days
- National Nursing Certification within 3 years

- Work Experience:
- 3 to 5 years in Nursing
- Perioperative Nursing
- Nursing Leadership (preferred)
- Perform introductory, annual and ongoing performance appraisals for employees based on job description and performance standards.
- Ensure appropriate orientation, education, credentialing, and continuing professional development of personnel.
- Evaluate staffing needs and assign appropriate patient care duties.
- Participate in recruitment, selection, and retention of personnel.
- Direct and manage personnel in the assigned area.
- Act as a role model in nursing, demonstrating competency in clinical judgment, technical skills and appropriate knowledge base.
- Demonstrate clinical expertise in the execution of the nursing process.
- Direct and assist staff in application of the nursing process and evaluate level of care provided by unit nursing staff.
- Plan and execute unit budget.
- Identify and justify variances on a monthly basis.
- Ensure patient rounds are completed on a daily basis.
- Monitor Patient Satisfaction scores and develop and implement plans to correct scores as needed.
- Respond to action lines in a timely manner.
- Responsible for continual monitoring and follow-up of scores related to the Carle Experience.
- Ensure PACU/Pre-Op is prepared for CMS and DNV surveys.
- Assess survey readiness and manage day-to-day operations of the PACU/Pre-Op.
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels are met.
- Ensure daily/monthly staff schedules and on-call schedules are completed; complete annual budget.
- Monitor budget variance and staffing variances (SVR).
- Hold monthly staff meetings.
- Attend and represent the PACU/Pre-Op department at the monthly PEC meeting.
- Provide input on capital equipment needs.
- Present to capital committee as needed.
- Ensure efficient and timely patient throughput.

Compensation & BenefitsThe compensation range for this position is $50.91 per hour - $87.57 per hour.
