The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) assumes responsibilities for direct nursing care of assigned patients under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN) or other provider in patient care departments. Provides nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the LPN scope of practice as defined by the Illinois Board of Nursing.
Qualifications- Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA). - Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).

- Provide direct nursing care to patients under the supervision of a registered nurse, midlevel provider or physician.
- Guide nursing care by provider orders and the nursing plan of care within the LPN scope of practice.
- Report patient response to care to registered nurse or other provider for evaluation, intervention and modification of the plan of care.
- Ensure documentation of care is complete and accurate.
- Obtain vital signs as directed; collect and process specimens accurately (lab specimens & point of care testing).
- Perform wound care, insert catheters, ear washes, assist care provider with procedures.
- Administer medication via oral/injection/inhalation.
- Perform bladder scans; complete forms (appeals, prior authorizations, MRI screens).
- Assist with in‑basket tasks—medication refills, telephone encounters, patient email encounters, relaying test result messages within LPN scope.
- Provide patient education within scope.
- Facilitate efficient flow of clinic tasks, assisting CMA, MA & RN staff as needed.
- Schedule appointments; order/maintain supplies.
- Participate in role‑appropriate committees/councils.

and Benefits
The compensation range for this position is $21.74 per hour – $36.31 per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
