Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cath Lab position in Illinois requiring EPIC EMR proficiency and recent Level 1 Trauma experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital-based Cath Lab within a Heart and Vascular Institute setting

• Perform diagnostic and interventional cardiology procedures including peripheral vascular work, venous central lines, tube changes, arterial and venous embolization, and venous thrombectomy

• Cares for adult patient population undergoing a variety of complex cardiac and vascular procedures

• Utilizes EPIC EMR for all charting requirements

• Day shift position: 4x9-hour shifts, 7:30AM-5:00PM, with rotating on-call duty

• Works as part of a collaborative team of RNs and Radiology Technologists

• Assess, plan, and implement individualized care for cardiac and vascular patients, modifying plans as needed

• Administer moderate sedation and other medications according to protocols

• Perform and monitor hemodynamic status and respond to emergent situations

• Document procedure events and coordinate care within a multidisciplinary team

• Opportunities for professional development and participation in quality improvement projects

• Work in a supportive, collaborative environment with a cohesive 3-4 person team

• Required to wear professional scrubs as per department policy

• RTO must not exceed 7 total days during a 13-week contract

• Returning travelers are allowed after a 6-month break in service if previously worked at this health system for one year

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Requirements

• Active Illinois RN license in good standing (temporary license accepted)

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) required

• BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association

• Minimum of three years of relevant nursing experience in a hospital setting

• Documented recent experience in Level 1 Trauma environment required

• Proficiency with EPIC EMR required

• Experience with moderate sedation, hemodynamic monitoring, and recognition of life-threatening arrhythmias required

• Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility (no locals eligible)

• No travel partners accepted
