American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Orthopedic/Med-Surg unit requiring Epic charting experience and Level 1 Trauma background.

• Inpatient Orthopedic and Medical/Surgical unit
• Night shift schedule, 7:00PM - 7:30AM, 3 shifts per week (36 hours)
• 6 weekend shifts required within a 6-week period
• Rotating holiday coverage required
• Floating to similar units required
• Uses Epic EMR for charting

• Active IL RN license in good standing (temp license accepted)
• Current BLS certification (AHA)
• Minimum one year of relevant nursing experience required
• ASN required, BSN preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• Level 1 Trauma experience required
• Experience with wound vacs, drains, pouches, urological devices, and orthopedic/surgical traction devices preferred

• Provide direct patient care to ortho and med-surg patients including assessment, care planning, and intervention each shift
• Educate patients on wound care, mobility, self-care, medication management, and care transition needs
• Coordinate care with physicians and surgeons, and delegate/monitor HCT staff interventions
• Set up and manage orthopedic traction and surgical traction devices
• Manage wound appliances including wound vacs, drains, pouches, and urological devices
• Maintain accurate nursing documentation and contribute to interdisciplinary communication
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
• RTO not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract
• Prior Carle Health contingent workers must complete a 6-month break in service if previously on assignment for more than 1 year
