Travel RN - Med​/Surg - Wound​/Ostomy Care

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg RN for a Surgical unit position requiring complex wound, ostomy, and tracheostomy care skills with night shift coverage.

• Active Illinois RN license in good standing (temporary license accepted)
• BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• Minimum one year of relevant nursing experience required
• ASN required, BSN preferred
• Epic charting experience and Level 1 Trauma experience required
• Experience with tracheostomy care, wound vac management, complex wound care, and new ostomy care required

• Surgical unit within a hospital setting (Level 1 Trauma)
• Post-operative care for complex surgical patients, including general surgical and OMFS residency services
• Night shift schedule: 7:00p-7:30a, three 12-hour shifts per week (36 hours/week)
• 6 weekend shifts required within a 6-week period
• Holiday coverage required on a rotating basis
• No floating requirements
• Uses Epic EMR for charting
• Provides post-operative nursing care for complex surgical patients, including assessment and intervention for positive outcomes
• Monitors and cares for patients with new tracheostomies
• Assesses and manages wounds requiring wound vac therapy and other complex wound care
• Assesses, manages, and educates patients and families on new ostomies
• Collaborates with general surgical residency and OMFS residency services
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
• RTO not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract
• Contingent workers may not work continuously for more than 1 year at this health system without a required 6-month break before returning
