- Forge multidisciplinary ties to mobilize faculty, staff, and students across campus to focus their skills and visions on cancer.
- Catalyze large interdisciplinary projects—including program project grants, training programs, and centers. Innovate new educational programs for students, professionals, and the general public.
- Partner with clinical centers and companies to drive translation and achieve economic impact while building alliances with external partners.
- Collaborate with NCI‑designated cancer centers to contribute to advancements across the national cancer research landscape.
Follow currently developed protocols of Tumor Engineering and Phenotyping Shared Resource (TEP) to provide services to researchers, including histology, molecular biology, and cell biology experiments. Develop and optimize experimental protocols for studying cancer cells, including 2D cell culture, spheroids, and organoids.
Duties & Responsibilities- Perform laboratory experiments utilizing standard techniques and equipment, including cell authentication, Nano String, Seahorse Analyzer, Pheno Cycler‑fusion system, and others.
- Provide histology services.
- Develop, optimize, and standardize experimental protocols for studying cancer cells, including 2D cell culture, spheroids, and organoids.
- Coordinate receiving samples and providing results and data to partners.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of experiments and research findings.
- Perform laboratory maintenance, including cleaning and maintaining equipment and ordering supplies.
- Train and instruct staff and students in basic laboratory techniques.
- Master’s degree in Biological Sciences or a closely related field.
- At least two years of research laboratory experience with cell biological and molecular biological techniques.
- PhD in Biological Sciences or a closely related field.
- Experience with histology techniques and processes.
Skills and Abilities
- Familiar with basic cell biology lab equipment and biosafety requirements.
- Excellent organizational skills, including time management, strong focus, and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of BSL2 biosafety requirements and other safety requirements.
- Ability to learn new techniques and develop protocols.
- Ability to learn office and university‑specific software.
This is a 100% full‑time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12‑month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the close date. The budgeted salary range for the position is $60,000 to $70,000. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.
