Akima Facilities Operations is seeking USMS Court Security Officers to work in Urbana, IL. Join our team of professionals by applying today!
Responsibilities- Enforce the district's entry and identification system.
- Test and report emergency equipment.
- Patrol court facilities and grounds according to post orders.
- Man USMS authorized stationary posts.
- Provide surveillance on incoming traffic to detect threats.
- May escort judges, court personnel, jurors, and others.
- Secure off-site and remote judicial functions.
- Direct traffic, control lights, and monitor vehicles and pedestrians as per post orders.
- Provide courtroom security during hearings and enforce legal orders.
- Handle found articles, report incidents within 24 hours.
- Inform supervisors of unusual events.
- Monitor alarms, radio traffic, and other info sources; dispatch as needed.
- Respond to alarms, requests for assistance, and criminal acts.
- Screen vehicles and pedestrians entering/exiting the facility.
- Use issued equipment properly.
- Prevent prohibited articles from entering/exiting the facility.
- Escort individuals or vehicles as per protocols.
- Maintain necessary licenses, certifications, and records.
- Use communication devices according to rules.
- Monitor equipment, report damages or losses.
- Perform duties in all weather conditions.
- Log property pass numbers.
- Secure government property, detain personnel if needed, report unauthorized removals.
- Conduct patrols and inspections regularly.
- Issue badges or passes to authorized personnel.
- Monitor access control and RFID systems, respond to alarms.
- Grant access during non-working hours to authorized personnel.
- Report deficiencies in facility systems.
- Perform surveillance for unauthorized activities.
- Support scheduled and emergency security needs.
- Maintain logs and administrative documents.
- Cooperate with law enforcement, assist with evidence, testify as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- At least 21 years old.
- Minimum 3 years law enforcement or military experience with arrest authority within the last 7 years.
- Certified law enforcement training recognized by authorities.
- Pass criminal background, drug test, and physical exam.
- Valid, unrestricted state driver's license.
- Fluent in English reading, speaking, and writing.
- Meet medical/physical fitness standards.
- No felony convictions.
- No misdemeanor domestic violence convictions.
- Able to perform physical duties in various weather conditions.
