PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT
Responsible for making sure the product is shipped in the most timely and efficient manner, including planning the transportation route, selecting the mode of transportation, and tracking the shipment from pick-up through delivery, while targeting cost reduction, freight savings and service.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSCompletes accurate and timely scheduling and dispatching of trucks to ensure that the flow of product in and out meets customer demands.Provides exceptional customer service by developing good working relationships with our customers.Works with warehouse personnel to verify inventory location and availability for shipment.Negotiates with transportation providers to obtain best rates and service.Assembles load fragments into consolidated loads to balance freight savings and service.Tracks shipments from pick-up through delivery so that accurate, up-to-date information can be provided regarding any shipment.OTHER JOB FUNCTIONSAssists with filing and administrative duties as required.Completes or assists with miscellaneous projects as needed.Provides support to Farm Seed Department as needed.Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.Performs all other duties as assigned.REQUIREMENTSNormally requires an Associates degree in transportation and logistics, or the equivalent thereof, and two years or more of related work experience to demonstrate knowledge of warehouse and freight logistics.Knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to learn company’s operating system.Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license, and satisfactory driving record.May be required to work extended hours during busy shipping seasons.Must have the ability to travel independently and overnight.Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.We are an equal opportunity employer, including protected veterans and qualified individuals with disabilities.
