Job SummaryDrive vehicles to transport equipment, supplies, furniture, refuse, rubbish, recycling, etc., with a gross vehicle weight capacity of less than 26,001 pounds, and personnel (up to 15 persons); load and unload vehicles safely; and deliver them to an assigned location. Works under the general supervision of higher-level personnel. All University Housing Staff will engage and contribute to a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion within University Housing.
Duties & Responsibilities- Drives and operates vehicles as required by the work assigned.
- Loads, secures, hauls, and delivers equipment, supplies, furniture, materials, refuse, rubbish, recycling, parcels, and freight, with a gross vehicle weight capacity of less than 26,001 pounds.
- Unpacks, assembles, and stores material as received.
- Performs minor repair work on the vehicle as necessary.
- Keeps appropriate records and paperwork.
- Performs pre‑and‑post inspection checks of the assigned vehicle for general conditions (including but not limited to tire inflation, oil, and water level).
- Responsible for material loaded on trucks and for the proper delivery thereof.
- Responsible for the proper operation of trucks and for the prompt reporting of any repairs known to be needed, as well as reporting any accidents or roadway incidents.

Position involves safely performing heavy lifting, pushing, and pulling, and physical exertion in varied weather conditions.
Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent.
Valid current driver’s license as required by the State of Illinois.
Appointment InformationThis is a 100% full‑time Civil Service 2066 – Driver position, appointed on a 12‑month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the job posting close date. The collective bargaining agreement sets a wage of $32.41 per hour.

Fully onsite – This position will be expected to work at the University of Illinois Urbana‑Champaign campus on a full‑time basis per the University’s Workplace Flexibility Policy.
