Position Summary
The Commercial Lending Assistant provides administrative and support assistance for multiple commercial lending officers while acting as a liaison between the clients and the Bank. The role ensures that all commercial clients within their region are serviced professionally to meet and exceed client expectations. The assistant serves as the loan documentation contact person and performs administrative duties.
Objectives of This Role- Ensure loan files contain accurate documents, signatures, dates, and other relevant data are collected and/or recorded.
- Provide administrative assistance to the Commercial / Ag bankers, including updating and typing loan applications, assembling loan documentation, ordering credit reports, attorney work, title searches, flood determinations, UCC searches, and appraisals.
- Assist customers with questions concerning existing accounts.
- Prepare loan disbursements, payments and draws on lines of credit, wire transfers and account transfers on behalf of commercial customers.
- Work effectively with a diverse group of bank personnel at several levels of the organization in coordination of commercial application requirements leading up to document delivery.
- Complete credit references.
- Enter data using different software programs – primarily MS Word and MS Excel.
- Assist in collection and organization of financial information needed in evaluation of credit. Prepare and mail letters to customers requesting updated financial information. Save financial and other customer documentation in the public drive. Ensure all documentation is imaged in Director.
- Adhere to loan policy and compliance regulations.
- Process new and renewal notes.
- Close loans for Commercial / Ag Bankers following their instructions.
- Schedule loan closings and Banker’s appointments.
- Follow up and maintain pending/exception list for loan files.
- Correspond with customers by phone, in writing or via electronic communication as appropriate.
- Complete CIP and other related identity‑verification documentation for borrowers and guarantors.
- Comply with bank policy and regulatory tests that apply to the position.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Education and ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED and two to four years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience along with computer experience.
Language SkillsAbility to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

- Notary Public Commission
- Valid driver’s license
- Responsible for following bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements involving federal and state laws, regulations, and guidance.
- Compliance with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), including accurate completion of Currency Transaction Reports (CTR) when applicable, Anti‑Money Laundering Act (AML), Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC), and the USA PATRIOT Act. Adhere to Customer Identification, Customer Due Diligence, and reporting of suspicious activities to the BSA Department.
